Closure of Arthurstown Landfill

Arthurstown Lanfill closed it’s gates to baled waste deliveries on December 21st 2010 after 13 years of landfilling in Kill. The total tonnage recorded was 4.8 million tonnes of baled municipal waste.

While void space still remains at the site the closure was due to the expiration of the planning permission from Kildare County Council.

The facility management have now entered the monitoring and aftercare phase which will continue for 30 to 50 years.

Congratulations to all staff!
